Coating Engineered For India’s Challenging Climatic Conditions

Nippon Paint has unveiled Walltron Advance Thermal Comfort Solutions (WATCS), a next-generation coating system specifically engineered for India’s challenging climatic conditions. With rising urban temperatures and the intensifying Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, Indian cities face severe heat retention, often with surface temperatures soaring to 70°C.

WATCS addresses this challenge through a three-layer technology that enhances thermal comfort and reduces cooling costs:

Insulprime – A deep-penetrating primer that seals surfaces, providing strong adhesion.

Insulcoat – A thermal insulation layer using Expancel technology, forming a heat-blocking barrier.

Insulshield – A high-performance topcoat with a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) of 108, reflecting over 90% of heat.

When applied together, this system can lower surface temperatures by up to 25°C and reduce air-conditioning energy consumption by around 30%. In addition to cooling benefits, WATCS offers waterproofing, improved surface durability, and low maintenance requirements, making it highly suitable for India’s diverse climate zones across residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Sustainability is a core principle for Nippon Paint, and WATCS aligns perfectly with the company’s mission to create eco-friendly, energy-efficient, and climate-resilient spaces. By reflecting heat, reducing energy usage, and enhancing thermal comfort, WATCS provides a practical solution for modern Indian cities striving for a balance between growth and environmental responsibility.
