Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma Hails Assam’s Music Initiatives As ‘Healthy Competition’

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has welcomed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s recent remarks, describing them as a “healthy competition” that highlights the North East as a key music destination.

“I always feel positive competitiveness is important, and it promotes the North East as a destination. That’s a great thing,” Sangma told reporters on Tuesday.

He noted that while Meghalaya and Shillong have their own distinct charm, Assam and Guwahati offer different advantages. “Each state and city has its unique strengths, and leveraging those should be the strategy of every state government,” he said.

Sangma added that the focus should not be on rivalry but on promoting the region collectively. “Overall, he is promoting the North East as a whole for music. We have always said the region is a music destination, and we hope all NE states work together to create a healthy environment of competition, boosting the music and concert economy for the nation and the world.”
