TuneCore, the leading development partner for self-releasing artists and part of Paris-based music company Believe, has unveiled the second edition of its annual Indian Indie Round Table, continuing its focus on meaningful dialogue around India’s fast-evolving independent music ecosystem.
The 2025 edition brings together a diverse panel of voices working at the heart of the indie movement, including singer-songwriter Nischay Parekh (TV Dinner), Dhaval Kothari, founder of music marketing agency All By Play, and Sherish Sheikh, founder of Odd House Management, who represents rising indie artist Mansa Jimmy. Moderated by music journalist Amit Gurbaxani, the discussion reflects a cross-section of perspectives spanning artists, managers, marketers and ecosystem builders closely engaged with TuneCore’s artist community.
The roundtable explores the creative shifts, challenges and breakthroughs that defined India’s independent music landscape over the past year. Key themes include the growing emphasis on reinvention and community-building, the increasing demand for authenticity, and the role of regional identity in shaping new and distinctive sounds. Panelists also discuss the importance of strong on-ground ecosystems for audience connection, the evolving influence of social media, and the growing sophistication of artist support structures in the country.
Speaking on the return of the initiative, Akhila Shankar, Head of TuneCore South Asia, said the roundtable was conceived as a way to strengthen the independent ecosystem through shared learning. “Our artists and partners are actively shaping how indie music grows in India. By opening up conversations around their journeys, we aim to help the wider community learn, adapt and evolve alongside them. Creating spaces for knowledge-sharing remains central to how TuneCore supports the future of independent music in India,” she said.
