Tiger Baby Records Unveils Deveshi Sahgal’s Debut Sufi Album Woh Jagah

Tiger Baby Records, the label founded by Ankur Tewari, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, has introduced its newest artist, Deveshi Sahgal, a rising Sufi vocalist known for her depth, emotion and poetic expression. Sahgal marks her debut with Woh Jagah, a soulful album that showcases her distinct voice and positions her as one of India’s most promising new talents.

Woh Jagah brings together a vibrant set of Sufi tracks, including the title song along with Ae Re Sakhi, Bulla Ki Jaana, Asa Ishq Namaz and Uzr. Her rendition of the classic Bullah Ki Jaana, recently released, reflects the album’s spiritual core, exploring themes of self-discovery, divine love and transcending worldly identity.

Sharing her excitement, Deveshi Sahgal said, “Releasing my first Sufi album is surreal. This journey helped me reconnect with myself and find peace through music. I wanted to present timeless Sufi ideas of love, devotion and identity in a contemporary sound that emotionally connects with listeners. While the title track Woh Jagah is written and composed by Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Mohammed Muneem Nazir, the album also features Sahgal’s interpretations of poems by celebrated poets such as Hazrat Amir Khusrau, Baba Bulleh Shah and Dagh Dehlvi. Blending classical Sufi poetry with modern sonic elements, Sahgal aims to bridge centuries of spiritual wisdom with today’s musical landscape.
