Punjabi music artists Karan Aujla and Shubh have been nominated for the 2026 Juno Awards, marking a significant achievement for South Asian artists on the global music stage. Both stars are listed among the contenders for the TD Juno Fan Choice Award, a category that invites public participation and recognises widely loved performers from around the world.
The nominations for the 55th Annual Juno Awards were revealed by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), with the ceremony set to take place in Hamilton, Ontario, in late March 2026. Alongside international superstars like Justin Bieber, Tate McRae and The Weeknd, Aujla and Shubh stand out as representatives of Punjabi and South Asian music in a competitive field.
Aujla, whose global reach has grown through streaming success and international touring, and Shubh, known for his cross-genre appeal, both secured spots on the Fan Choice ballot,a category that highlights artists with strong fan engagement across platforms.
In addition to the Fan Choice nod, Punjabi artists, including Aujla and Shubh, are also featured in the South Asian Music Recording of the Year category, alongside works by other prominent names in the scene. This category was introduced to celebrate the rising influence of South Asian musical styles and artists in the global industry.
The inclusion of Aujla and Shubh at the 2026 Juno Awards reflects the continued internationalisation of Punjabi and South Asian music, as genres from the region expand their footprint beyond local markets to broader global recognition. Winners will be announced at the Juno Awards gala in Hamilton later this year.
